Some people think they are living their entire life in a private amusement park, where every thing is fun and games. When you don’t show up at their park of nonsense, and ‘step right up’ to have your weight guessed, or to try to fit a 6 inch basketball into a 5 inch hoop…… you are thought to be pitied for not joining in the reindeer games. Or is prudence perhaps the better word?
When a person demands: Prove Daniel lived, prove Paul wrote his epistles, prove there was a wedding at Cana of Galilee, or tell of something useful that the Lord did in the days of His flesh, or tell us whether you would save a drowning kitten or a pet canary (gotta pic one) these are more than amusing.
They are endless bunnies, yep, like the Ever-ready battery, and that smiling rabbit banging the drum……keeps on tickin. May as well have the fella going in circles on the merry-go-round or Ferris wheel, up and around, round and round, going no further and getting no closer to the truth of anything; the revolving door being the gateway of perpetual distractions and nonsense.
I was asked once: Why did god create the universe? (See that little ‘g’ there? Kinda puts a damper on any real interest at dialog.) I calmly said the word of God reveals the answer. However, if one does not believe WHO ‘in the beginning……….’ then WHY is irrelevant. Chew on this. But this fine answer was considered an absurd escape, a non answer.
No. Key word here, absurd. Absurd not because of the question, but absurd because the questioner has no context for an answer, as ‘gods’ are a dime a dozen, and collectively all the false gods could not muster the strength to lift a solitary feather, therefore ANY answer will be trampled afoot.
Unless one believes in the God of creation as clearly demonstrated in life, confirmed through scripture, and known by the heart, he will always be at a disadvantage of understanding, and appear to be like a laughing hyena in a cage at a park: for amusement purposes only.
There is a time and a purpose to be humorous or amused, but that time is never ALWAYS.
Answering some questions only justify the nonsense and gives opportunity for the gatekeeper to smile as another ‘customer’ walks through his gate, ‘Aha, another fool here to amuse.’ Guess what? One can always opt out.
And in this carnival, the one who guesses the weight of a 116 lb woman as 200 lb, and pretends he is right, well, you get the drift as far as nonsense. I however do not find it amusing.
While some may appreciate the fun and games, at least some know they are fun and games. The word on the park bench is now a person is not moral if he does not answer certain questions…………yep, I kid you not. Heard it myself, and you did too.
I suppose then, the Lord Jesus Christ was not moral when He was mute before Pilate when asked: ‘what is truth?’ Uh huh, sure, He who epitomizes grace and truth was immoral because he did not enter Pilates amusement park. Right. Okay. Uh huh. Sure.
Answering certain questions designed purely to find fault merely gives credibility to a lost cause. Pilate had no interest in ultimate truth, neither do they who ignore the answers already given in scripture.
Scripture is not a playground, closer to a battlefield maybe where good always wins, but not a book to provide amusement to the spiritually cripple. It cuts the hands of they who trifle with its sacred contents while it gives ears to the deaf, 20/20 to the visually impaired, it puts man in his proper place as it is the very best of swords, it reveals the thoughts and intents of the heart, and it proves the simple desire of some to cite scripture as an object of disdain and amusement. Again, I am not amused.
Need proof? Visit any site of they who traffic in the maiming of scripture and people of faith, especially they who boast of a ‘past life’ as a believer, and you will see a whole lotta people on park benches with crutches and heads bandaged, swearing that scripture is to blame, meanwhile, they are simply banging their heads against their own disappointments, unbelief, images of a god they created, and common sense. Tis a poor sight.
And by the way, the battle has long been won by He who holds all ammunition. If one wants to go up against Him, you must ask to borrow your weapons, for you see, He owns everything, and for what its worth, no weapon formed against Him will prosper.
