In consideration of America’s Labor Day, here’s a heads up to scripture.
-In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
-In all labor there is profit.
-The sleep of a laboring man is sweet.
-I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
-A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.
-Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
-All our righteousnesses are as filthy rags…..
-To declare, I say, at this time His righteousness…
-Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
-Faith without works is dead.
–Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
-I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
-It. is. finished.

Happy Labor Day, ColorStorm! I love this one, “The sleep of a laboring man is sweet.” Just thinking of some young guys recently, all dog tired, but happy, worn out in a good way, satisfied with a job well done. They’ll sleep good, but it’s the sparkle in their eyes that caught my attention, the joy, like children who have played hard but wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Tk you. Work is its own reward yep. Happy and worn out. Nice.
Btw, our friend -xp wrote some awesome commentary about many sites he frequents as you know. I sent him a heads up, and unfortunately I’m in the basement of leashes, grief, and unopened toys.
When u are in the neighborhood, can you say hey to him for me. WP doesn’t like me. Much obliged ms bytes.

LOL! Take heart, ColorStorm. WP is wonky, but you will not always wind up in the basement and we will fish you out if you do. XP has good taste, yes? That’s why we all come to read your words. 🙂

Ah yes, nothing like friends in low places mbytes!
After all, we have precedence. The Highest of all has yet gone lower still. 😉
I’ll tell you though, CTom and -xp have a knack for piecing together some great stuff. It’s a gift I tell ya.
Some sweet fellowship in these zip codes to be sure.

We live in an age where stating the obvious, beautiful truth is offensive.

I would love just once Silence, for a presidential candidate to stop saying ‘we will do this or that for you……..’ and say something like:
‘How in God’s good name can you honestly expect a handout for your daily bread? Look at the squirrels, how they labor from dawn to dusk. Go to work, find a job, you will be better for it, and perhaps you will give up lives of vice.’

I think that’s a recipe for the JFK treatment.

THANKYOUSOMUCH for adding the one about labor and delivery of a baby!!! Never thought of it in this context, (although I have three children!) but that is certainly from the Lord as well.

Well then dlj, you pay attention to detail!
It’s called labor for a reason eh? 😉 and of course you are welcome.

Tkx, and then there is the greatest work of all: by Himself bore our sins in His body…………..on the tree.
Some work there.
