Watch this

I enjoy the concept of time, the monitoring of the minutes, hours, days, months, years, decades, millenia, and who cannot appreciate the mildest expression of this through a simple wristwatch. Oops. did I say simple?

All those pieces, the intertwining and precise mechanisms, designed to catalog the SECOND. Now then believer friend or foe, and you too atheist friend or foe, (equal opportunity doncha know) can we not all agree that such a machine could not be constructed apart from intelligence?

Don’t believe me? Lay each piece on a table and watch the watch assemble itself. Watch the crawling dial move by itself and attach to the hand. Watch the numbers scribe themselves without direction and land in the precise order, 1,2, 3, 4, 5, while the bezel crafts itself as it seats perfectly. Didn’t think so.

What’s the point? Of course you already know, creation is that watch, and there is no accidental assembling of the sun, or the moon, as they move around the clock face.  Why the Keeper of time is tossed out of His own factory while Mr. Rolex is worshipped by the blind and the deaf is beyond me. But do men still worship while they are in denial? Of course, for the bastard children evolution and atheism have many offspring who all bow to something, even if it is themselves, or others with the same God given brain.

Sadly, men avoid the watchmaker while the human brain has become infected by the corrupt poison called Self, and refuses to see that the watch, or creation rather, is a finely tuned and well made result of Intelligence, period. Tornadoes do not ransack junkyards and assemble watches. How hard can this be to understand, or is it simply that Self has bought and eaten the lie that says: ‘there is no God……………,’ yet how many have sworn to you and themselves that lies are tasty, and that they satisfy the soul?

But watch this. Mankind is too stupid to know that the very watch is a constant in your face remembrance that a person cannot even tell the time without invoking God. But how does stupidity thrive in a world of the internet with knowledge a click away? The same way it has always done well, courtesy of the human heart, which does not need lying university professors to persuade them that Adam never lived, or that the world was not once deluged through water.

A man will perhaps give up his fraudulent ways when he faces for once in life his aloneness on the high seas and impending capsize, and begs for his ‘internet’ to help him, as he faces water unimaginable, the depths he cannot even conceive while he convinces himself: Jonah never lived either. Yeah, good luck with that alternate reality. The threat of a good drowning will tend to serve as a wake up call; (but had he a better captain…)

Or ask a person of their mental state while they run from a hurricane, with winds they have never seen, and the threat of their lives being ended in the next two seconds of the clock. Guaranteed they will not be thinking of finding their collectible comic books, or looking for their laptop so they can google ‘how to escape a hurricane,’ no, they will be facing death squarely in the face, with no one to blame, and no one to help.

But in this, God is blameless, while some mock. Some bless Him, while others berate Him, while going through the same turmoil. So the greater question of the day: have you ever faced your fraudulent ways and have been exposed to yourself? Well then, examine yourself, and the lesson of the watch may just take root.

You must be trolling john. Paley’s Watchmaker analogy has been answered and debunked too many times for serious consideration anymore. There may have been a God who created it all, but you won’t be able to demonstrate it by Arguments from Ignorance and Incredulity Fallacies. This only seek to debunk naturalistic explanations. They do nothing to support your claim. It’s a dishonest tactic.

That’s your trouble mike. You assume things, And your assumptions are founded upon incorrect information. Hence, your faulty claims.

I wrote this PURELY because of a conversation about watches yesterday with a friend. Mr or Mrs Paley never entered the convo.

Mistake number 2. I dare you to go to any junkyard, and wait patiently for any movement independent of intelligence, to craft, assemble, and produce a watch.

Your years of waiting will fail you. It’s all about your denial of common sense mike. Lies are a dime a dozen, maybe you could evolve ears like the elephant so you can hear what I’m saying…………..

So, I’ll try to explain it for you as well. For me to honestly say that my sister Jan actually made me the cake that is before my for my birthday, I must be able to demonstrate I actually have a sister named Jan. It would definitely make sense, common sense, if people just took my word for it and just believed me. We usually give others the benefit of doubt in these cases because we have past interactions with other people’s sisters and know that Jan isn’t an unusual name. But taking someone’s word for it and having common sense for a ground of just believing that it’s possible that I might have a sister Jan who was capable of baking the cake does nothing to demonstrate that I actually have a sister Jan or that she is capable to doing such a thing. And it does nothing to demonstrate that she actually did.
Common sense is no substitute for actual evidence, especially when we don’t have Jan’s word for it, we have only my “hearsay” word for it. Which isn’t the same as evidence. But again, you’re surely trolling and have heard all this before and choose to ignore it “by faith” to believe what you cannot demonstrate. Common sense indeed can lead you to erroneous conclusions backed by nothing more than ignorance and incredulity that it happened any other way than what you believe. Have a great day John.

Deconverting from Christianity is no excuse for leaving your brain at the door mike.

Taking someone’s word for it? Ha! It’s called the word of God for a reason. His word is far better than yours. Creation backs up His promises.

Common sense? Uh, yeah, as this leaves all fools at a disadvantage. Don’t be a fool.

Yup. Just as I thought. Trolling. Not even going to consider my efforts to help you understand.
You first need to demonstrate that your God, not just any deistic God, but your biblical God actually exists to be a candidate for having created the world. Something you cannot do. Which is why you resort to the same old attacks on naturalistic explanations that even if valid… and they aren’t… would not add up to evidence for your claim of the biblical God’s existence in reality.
          And for your “God’s word”?
Written not with the “finger of God” on tablets of stone that we still have and can examine to see there would be no other human way of being made… Instead what we have are copies and copies of copies of edited, redacted and manipulated texts written by men who “say” they were dictated by God, and then subsequently changed and corrupted by different men who “said” they were “rightly dividing” the words of the same God.
There is no direct line of evidence that links the biblical texts to a conclusive determination that they came from anywhere other than men who were claiming to speak for a god that could easily and more probably have been in their own imaginations than actually existing in reality.
But I expect you to hand wave and insult this away as well.
I’ve come to the conclusion that whether you really do believe this stuff or not, you are just trolling. Have a great day John.

I dare you to read the book of Romans- not just read it, but consider the all encompassing ramifications- of HOW and WHY it was written- and I challenge you to weigh it not against the ignorant opinions of atheists and other decons who don’t know Genesis from Revolution- and for once in your life think about THAT and it’s inplications to YOU.

Take a year, or two, or ten, then get back to me, and I will tell you once more that every word is true, from: ‘in the beginning God…..’

Sorry John. Book of Romans? Have both read it and deep studied it several times, I used to read the ot once a year and the NT twice per year, but I’ve also taught it for years. I’m very familiar with Paul’s writings. But they are not the writings of any God. They are the religious writings of one who believed that what he wrote was God’s word. He was mistaken.

I used to teach jude as “Apostasy 101”. Even so, It would seem Jude is one of those which has only by brute force of later ‘official’ inclusion in Canon, upon pain and eternal threats of excommunication, escaped the earlier ‘exclusion’ by church fathers such as eusubius. For instance:

“Among the disputed writings [των αντιλεγομένων], which are nevertheless recognized by many, are extant the so-called epistle of James and that of Jude, also the second epistle of Peter, and those that are called the second and third of John, whether they belong to the evangelist or to another person of the same name. Among the rejected writings must be reckoned also the Acts of Paul, and the so-called Shepherd, and the Apocalypse of Peter, and in addition to these the extant epistle of Barnabas, and the so-called Teachings of the Apostles; and besides, as I said, the Apocalypse of John, if it seem proper, which some, as I said, reject, but which others class with the accepted books. And among these some have placed also the Gospel according to the Hebrews, with which those of the Hebrews that have accepted Christ are especially delighted. And all these may be reckoned among the disputed books [των αντιλεγομένων].”

Alas, the epistle of Jude is just as Fake and unreliable as your defense of the watchmaker analogy

The letter of Jude stands as an example of the ravings of a religious zealot who could only think of threats of Eternal punishment to keep people from leaving the “loving” God of the Bible. If you have to Threaten your adherents with a fate worse than death to keep them from refusing your “loving embrace”, you aren’t very loving or honest.

Sorry mike, but u have it backwards. God sets the terms according to goodness; I just agree with HIM.

When He references ‘beguiling unstable souls,’ He calls the shots.

When He mentions men ‘foaming out their own shame;’ His words not mine.

You have every chance to turn in your instability and shame for holding the Creator in contempt.

CS you are overwhelmed and confused by complexity. Nature does as it wants, nature is unpredictable and from over a hundred elements the millions upon millions of different substances react to produce everything from the life and evolutionary progress of brains and bodies to the most destructive storms and tornados. Not to mention the medicines to combat devastating diseases and illnesses that inflict all life and the billions of things we take for granted.
You and Wally really do need to check out the science, 97% of scientists cannot be wrong about the work they do every day. Unlike the billions of people around the world who are indoctrinated and sucked into believing in one god or another.

That right there is proof of the abject stupidity of atheism. That’s like those times you have said, “Science knows.” You assign sentient actions to things which feel nothing, so desperate is your desire to avoid a God.

@ Mike. You wrote a whole blog post about how dishonest it is to just try and critique another world view rather than support your own. Yet, that is all you do on Christian blogs. I suppose you would first have to grow the balls to actually identify with your worldview, but so far, it on consist of, “I hate God.”

I love your, “examine yourself, and the lesson of the watch may just take root. ” It reminds me a bit of the White Rabbit in Alice, always running about with his pocket watch. Carroll intended him to be a stark contrast to Alice’s youth and vigor, to her complete disregard for time. Just as a watch must have a watchmaker, the characters in a story must have an Author.
