Say thank you today

See the gorgeous blue sky. Hear the rain. See the clouds lazily passing overhead like a broken water canopy. Look at the cattle grazing on a thousand hills. Listen to the songbirds. Watch the tiny young white spotted fawns follow their mother deer. Listen in reverential awe at the thunderclap preceded by its lightning. Watch the geese fly in Vee’s. Watch the hawks fly higher still in circles. Listen to the cry of a newborn baby and observe the face of Mrs. Smith.

Watch a trauma surgeon and his focused intensity trying to save life. Look at the yellow ducklings float downstream following mom. Look at the tiger and her stealth with those majestic stripes. Ever see a giraffe give birth to a monkey? Look at the oceans of the world, the rivers, the lakes, the streams. Ever see Mrs. Jones give birth to a cheetah? Why not?

Ah yes, God’s word reveals such simple concerns, but simple does not mean shallow. Simple as in the source, but it needs a hundred lifetimes to express thanksgiving to the creator for such marvels. ‘After their kinds’ is a concept so demure yet unmatched in its quiet elegance, spoken to the hearts of men that we be sure in our understanding.

I swear if atheism were a plant, it would be a ravenous weed, stealing all nutrients from the fruits and flowers while accusing them of wilting. But evolution should be proud of such theft! But I digress.

When someone holds a door for you while your hands are full, most decent people automatically say ‘thank you,’ for thankfulness is a way of life. Did you catch that? A way of life as a decent human being. I would be willing to bet that you cannot go one day without saying thanks for something, no matter how mundane.

Yet, YET, YET, how many people go days, months, years, and sadly decades without offering a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to He who gives them not only life, but the very next breath. And these documented emoluments such as given above are so obvious that in a court of law, the existence of God could be proven in ten seconds flat, with an apology for using up 9 extra seconds.

So, who do you thank? Really, who do you thank for the endless mercies and benefits forwarded to you? The self made astronomers busying themselves with interest ‘out there,’ as they change their minds and curriculum a hundred times based on ‘new information’ which only expose yesterdays lies, have never for one minute of their life looked into the single dewdrop which reveals the depths of the oceans, so no, they cannot be trusted with fresh ‘revelations.’

God’s word has much to say about the machinery of men and the pretended intellect of carnal minds. God says the wisdom of this world is ‘foolishness’ unto Him. God is correct of course, as we see today how a ten year old girl or boy sits in front of a camera and lectures us about the dangers of not listing to scientists. Really kid? How about you act like a 10 year old and go play outside and learn a thing or two about life first.

Which reminds me. People btich  about God and His sending a flood upon the world of the ungodly, yet conveniently ignore or miss entirely the fact of God’s grace for 120 years. Oops, that is a lifetime and then some, meaning please do not be so stupid as to blame God for your crooked ways, as He is blameless and cannot be charged with anything under the sun.

Try thanking Him today, even now. Start there, and watch the floodgates of heaven reward you with ears that hear, eyes that see, and a tongue that will be slow to find fault with good people.

Not whom but for what. That is the real object of your question. Thankfulness needs not be directed TO anyone, but FOR everything.

The next time someone thanks you mike, go ahead and tell them that their ‘thanks needs not be directed TO anyone.’

They will possibly laugh you to scorn, and your idiotic response should serve as a wake up call.

If of course I am thanked by a person, or if I thank another person that I know did for me, I’m sure normal thanks will continue. Your senario by contrast is built on a fallacy called Argument from Ignorance or Incredulity. Sorry, I can’t agree with you anymore on that.

I’m pretty sure life itself requires, no, demands reciprocation by way of ‘thanks.’

Perhaps you have heard of the truth: ‘neither were they thankful……………………………professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.’

There is no need nor excuse to be an employee of ungratefulness.

Ah yes, the good book has the drop on all our waywardness. ‘It is written.’ Always relevant. Always true.

Life requires a thanks “for” not “to”.

Get out of my courtroom- you have no argument, The jury has spoken, the verdict is in.

You are in contempt of common sense.

Strange mike- u say u are not atheist- but you defend ‘accidental creation’ at every turn.

And yes, all atheism and evo includes accidental and ultimately meaningless life.

In your fantasy world physics created itself.

Not true. No one know what came before our present universe. Physics may very well be the music of an oscillating, self perpetuating series of universes, each separate and unique. Who knows even if our ‘universe’ is the only one currently existing? We once thought the milky way was our universe, and before that… we thought that our solar system was all there was… Flat stationary Earth and all.
Seems the only fantasy is denying what we continue to discover about reality and settling only for what it says in some books written by bronze age desert dwellers.
“Goat Herders Guide to the Galaxy” or physics?
I’ll now choose physics and the continued investigation into the unknown over the bible any day of the week and twice on Sunday

Bravo ColorStorm, really nice post! I was walking on the beach just this morning and marveling at how perfectly made the ocean swells were before breaking in to waves. The area was just exploding with life; birds chirping, goofy dogs walking their owners, friendly people…..it all made me so grateful to be alive and part of this beautiful world God created.

  3. I was just thinking the other day as I seemed caught up in that current moment of being outside and feeling that brief but overwhelming sense of peace that indeed passes all understanding…
It was one of those most fleeting moments when everything was at peace within me…in mind, body, soul, and world around…that I truly sensed God in all His greatness.

I then thought of your blog and of other blogs, who are bombarded by those naysayers out there–
Bombarded by those folks who harangue any all believers in the One who is greater than all that is. There are no words to offer them that would or could help them understand such a feeling…
That feeling of being so small while standing in the presence of something that is so much greater.

It is such an undescribable overwhelming engulfing embrace— ‘an embrace’ that no earthly words can ever explain in human terms as moments such as this are beyond the comprehension of this world.

And what a blessing it is to experience such a moment.

  4. Ahhhhh, a hearty amen, Colorstorm! Thankfulness will also make you happy, because it calls your eyes to life’s blessings rather than sorrows. “Whatever is lovely, whatever is good…think on these things.” Cultivating an attitude of gratitude is good for us, too!

Let me just offer up a good word in favor of being thankful TO someone and not just thankful FOR things. When the things you are thankful for are lost, leave, or get taken from you, you will still have the One you are thankful TO, to hang onto, to lead you. Since even life itself will someday slip though our fingers, being thankful TO Him and FOR Him becomes even more important.

So, some say we are to be thankful “for,” stuff…”to” nobody. Nothing accidental about physics? Huh? What? Under the atheist paradigm that is exactly the point; all is accidental. Some need to study his atheist doctrine a little bit better. Good post, ColorStorm.
